It’s easy to update your billing information on your account to keep your subscription in good standing.

In this article, you’ll learn how to update your credit card details.

Important:

If you subscribed using PayPal you will need to update your billing details from within your PayPal account. You will not have an option to update billing details in your OptinMonster account unless you subscribed using a credit card directly.

Update Billing

When you need to change your credit card info follow these steps:

  1. Once logged into your account select your name in the top right corner of the screen, then click on Billing.
  2. Next, select the green Update Credit Card button.
  3. Update all of your credit card information.
  4. When you’re finished, click Save Credit Card.

FAQs

Why don’t I see the Update Credit Card button?

If the Update Credit Card button is not available on the Billing screen it indicates your subscription was purchased using PayPal. You will need to update your billing details from within your PayPal account.

Can I switch from PayPal to Credit Card billing?

Yes, our support team can help with that process. Please note that once changed from PayPal to credit card billing it is not possible for us to return your account to PayPal billing due to the limitations PayPal imposes.

Can I remove all credit card details from my account instead of updating them?

All active accounts require a valid billing method.

To permanently delete all credit card details from an inactive account please reach out to our support team.

Troubleshooting

Will my upgrade cost be pro-rated?

Yes, your upgrade cost is automatically pro-rated based on the plan you upgrade to and the amount of time remaining in term of your current subscription. The pro-rated amount is reflected on the checkout page when upgrading your plan.

If I upgrade from a Monthly to Yearly Plan, how much time will I have available on my Subscription?

You will have 1 year from the date of the account upgrade.

Example:

If you are on a monthly account, which started on May 1, 2019, and you upgrade to an annual subscription on May 15, 2019, then you will have an active subscription for a whole year starting on May 15. The price you pay for the upgrade will be pro-rated for the 15 days you used in May.

Can I downgrade my subscription?

There is no way to downgrade from within your own account, however, our customer support team would be happy to assist. Please open a support ticket with details of how you’d like to adjust your account.

If you would like more information about downgrading, please contact support by clicking here.

The post How to Manage Your Pageview and Upgrade Preferences appeared first on OptinMonster.]]>
Each OptinMonster subscription is allowed a specific number of pageviews, or the number of times the campaigns in your account can be shown.

In this article, you’ll learn what happens if your account exceeds the number of pageviews assigned to it and how to manage your Pageview and Upgrade Preferences.

Before You Start

Here are some things to know before you begin:

  • Effective Jan. 18, 2023, pageview limits for free subscriptions are cumulative; they do not reset each month.
  • Pageviews limits for paid subscriptions accumulate throughout an entire month (e.g. March 1-31) and reset at the beginning of the next month (e.g. April 1).
  • Pageview and Upgrade Preferences allow you to choose how we should handle your account if your account exceeds the pageview limits available to your plan.
  • Pageview and Upgrade Preferences can be found on the Manage Subscription page.

Manage Preferences

We offer other options to allow you to choose the best action for your specific account needs.

To manage your pageview and upgrade preferences, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your OptinMonster account and navigate to the Manage Subscription page.
  2. Under the Pageview & Upgrade Preferences section choose the option you prefer from the dropdown field.
  3. When you’re finished, click save changes.

Available Options

There are three options available for managing your account pageview and upgrade preferences:

1. Automatically upgrade to the appropriate plan

This is the default option for any Free, Basic, Plus or Pro plan.

If this option is selected and your account exceeds the pageviews for your plan, we will attempt to upgrade your account to the plan that corresponds with the pageviews your account is receiving automatically.

If you are on a monthly plan, you will be upgraded to that plan’s monthly subscription. If you’re on an annual plan, you’ll be upgraded to that plan’s annual subscription.

The number of pageviews available for each plan can be viewed here.

2. Add a pageview block

Pageview Block Option

This is the default option for any Growth, Enterprise or custom subscriptions. This option is not available for Free subscriptions.

If this option is selected and your account exceeds the pageviews available for your plan, we will attempt to add as many pageview block(s) as needed to cover the overage.

Pageview blocks are $29/block/month and are billed monthly.

Each pageview block includes 100,000 pageviews. For example, if your account exceeds pageviews by 200,000, we will add two (2) pageview blocks at one time instead of one.

The pageview block(s) will remain in your account, billed monthly, until you remove it.

While this is the default for Growth, Enterprise and Custom plans, Basic, Plus and Pro customers can also choose this as their default preference.

3. Suspend campaigns until pageviews reset at the beginning of the next month

If this option is selected and your account exceeds the pageviews for your plan, we will temporarily suspend your campaigns until any of the following occurs:

  • The month ends and a new month begins, resetting the pageviews and removing the temporary suspension.
  • You add a pageview block.
  • You upgrade to a subscription tier with enough pageviews to cover your usage. This will remove the temporary suspension immediately following a successful payment.

Enterprise, Growth, Pro, Plus, Basic and custom plans can select this preference.

Troubleshooting

What happens when an automatic upgrade or pageview block addition fails?

If for any reason we attempt to upgrade your account to the most appropriate tier, or we attempt to add pageview block(s) and fail, we will provide a grace period of three days and alert you by email.

If you fail to take action within those three days, we will temporarily suspend your campaigns for the remainder of the month, or until you upgrade or add a pageview block(s).

You will receive an email when this occurs, too. That email will share with you the date your campaigns will activate again if do not take any action. You’ll also see a similar notice within your OptinMonster dashboard.

What if my Enterprise plan is billed by invoice or bank transfer and is not able to be billed automatically for upgrades or additional pageview blocks?

For our valued Enterprise customers, we will reach out to you directly if your account exceeds the pageviews allocated to your account to discuss the best options for your business.

At OptinMonster, we recognize that your marketing and promotional needs may change over time. We have flexible options to accommodate those needs, Pausing and Archiving.

Before You Start

Here are some things to know before you begin:

  • Pausing will place a hold on your account so you don’t lose any time remaining in your current term.
For example, if your account is due to renew in 8 months and you pause your account for 1 month, your renewal date will be moved out to 9 months.
  • Once the pause period completes you will regain full OptinMonster service for all campaigns.
  • If you need to resume your campaigns before the pause period completes you can unpause your subscription at any time.
  • Archiving will place your account into an inactive state and change your subscription to a low yearly archive plan.
  • Archiving your account will prevent it from being deleted permanently. While archived, we will keep all of your OptinMonster campaigns, sites, integrations and other account data stored safely and securely until you’re ready to return to a normal subscription plan.
  • You can unarchive your account at any time in the future to pick right back up where you left off.

Pause Your Account

You may wish to take a short break from using OptinMonster but don’t want to lose any time remaining in your term. Pausing your account is the perfect option.

Important

While your account is paused you will still have access to the OptinMonster Dashboard and Campaign Builder so you can continue to create and edit campaigns.

Once you pause your account, you must wait one year before pausing it again. For example, if you paused your account on October 3rd of 2024, you will be eligible to pause your account again on October 3rd of 2025.
While paused, all campaigns embedded on your site as well as OptinMonster hosted campaigns (shareable MonsterLinks) will be disabled.

Once the pause period completes you will regain full OptinMonster service for all campaigns.

To pause your OptinMonster account, follow these steps:

  1. From the OptinMonster Dashboard navigate to the Account > Billing page.
  2. Next, select the Manage Subscription link below your invoices.
    Manage Subscription link
  3. Select the Pause button.
Pause OptinMonster subscription by 1 month.
  4. A confirmation box will appear, select the Yes, I’m Sure button to pause your account.
    Confirm Pause Subscription
  5. Finally, you’ll see a notice indicating your account was successfully paused.
    OptinMonster account paused notice

Archive Your Account

You may wish to stop using OptinMonster for an unspecified period of time, but return in the future to all of your existing campaigns and account settings. Archiving your account is the perfect option.

Important

While your account is archived you will only have limited access to your OptinMonster account.

The OptinMonster Dashboard, Campaign Builder, Site/Integration management pages, etc, the campaigns embedded on your site, as well as OptinMonster hosted campaigns (shareable MonsterLinks) will be disabled.

To archive your OptinMonster account, follow these steps:

  1. From the OptinMonster Dashboard navigate to the Account > Billing page.
  2. Next, select the Manage Subscription link below your invoices.
    Manage Subscription link
  3. Select the Archive button.
    Archive OptinMonster subscription
  4. A confirmation box will appears, select the Yes, I’m Sure button to archive your account.
    Confirm Archive Subscription
  5. Finally, you’ll see a notice indicating your account was successfully archived.
Finally, you'll see a notice indicating your account was successfully archived.

When you’re ready to resume using OptinMonster, return to the Manage Subscription page and select the Reactivate Subscription button.

Troubleshooting

I receive an error when I try to Pause or Archive my account.

Before you can pause or archive your account you must have an active subscription and valid billing details associated with your account.

If your subscription has been canceled, you can reactivate it following the link prompt shown at the top of your account screen.

If you have an active subscription but receiving this error, be sure to update your billing details on the Billing page.

Can I unpause my account early?

Your subscription will automatically resume after the period of time you’ve chosen to pause it for has elapsed.

If you’d like to unpause your account early, return to the Manage Subscription page and select the Unpause Subscription button.

    My Account

    Site Menu
  2. On the next screen, you’ll see all of the sites that are connected to your account.

Add a Site

There are two ways you can add a new site to your account:

  • Using the Site Management Page
  • Add a Domain to a Campaign

  2. In the campaign builder, navigate to the Publish tab.
  3. In the Websites section, select the Add a new website link. You can select a previously registered domain from the dropdown list or register a new domain to your account by selecting the Add a new website option.

Add new website modal in the Publish view of the campaign builder.

    • Site Domain — Enter the domain you’re registering.
  5. Click Save and Add Website.
  6. When you’re finished, click Save to save the changes to your campaign.

Verify Site

In the Publish screen of the campaign builder, you’ll notice a site status appears next to each site you assign to the campaign. Like this:

Site status in the OptinMonster campaign builder.

If your site shows a status of Not Connected you can verify the site by following these steps:

Under some specific conditions, a site will not be able to be verified and will always show as Not Connected in the campaign builder. This does not directly indicate that there is a problem with OptinMonster campaigns functioning on your site.

Please refer to the Troubleshooting section of this guide for more details on what conditions will prevent a site from being verified.

  1. Be sure to place the OptinMonster embed code on your site. We provide guides for all major platforms, and also this general guide for all other site platforms to get you started.
  2. (Optional) If you have any caching active on your site through a plugin or your server, please clear your website’s caching.
  3. Return to the OptinMonster campaign builder’s Publish screen and select the Verify link for the site.
Verify your site in the OptinMonster campaign builder.
  4. (Optional) If you’ve added the OptinMonster embed code to any page except the homepage of your site, you can manually verify the site by adding ?om-verify-site=true to the end of the page URL where the embed code is added. For example, the URL may look like this: https://mysite.com/about-me?om-verify-site=true
  5. The site will now show Connected as the status once it has been successfully verified.

Is your site still not connecting? See our Troubleshooting section for more details.

Edit a Site

You can easily edit a site you’ve already registered to your account through the Site Management page.

Before you start, when editing your site domain, we reset many domain-specific settings, which means you will need to manually reconnect the following services (where applicable and already configured):

Site Verification (refer to the Verify Site section above)
Google Analytics
Google reCAPTCHA
Shopify Sites
WordPress Sites
WP Forms Blocks
WooCommerce
Easy Digital Downloads
BigCommerce
Custom Domains

To edit a site, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Site Management page.
  2. Select the Edit button next to the site you want to edit.
    Edit Site
  3. On the next page, you’ll see all options available for the site you’ve selected to edit.
    Site Settings
  4. When you’re finished, click Save.

Delete a Site

Warning:

Deleting a site from your account will also remove it from any campaigns in your account that are set to load on that site. If a site is deleted by mistake you will need to register it again to your account and manually set that domain in the campaign website field for each individual campaign.

Proceed with caution.

You can delete a site from your account if you no longer need it.

When you delete a site from your OptinMonser account you can expect the following to take place:

  • Campaigns assigned to that site will be moved to the Unassigned section of the Campaigns screen.
  • Analytics will be permanently deleted from OptinMonster and no longer available in the Dashboard or Analytics screens.
  • Leads will remain unaffected in the Leads screen of your account.

To delete a site, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Sites page as shown in the first section of this article.
    Site Menu
  2. Next, select the Delete button next to the site you would like to delete.
    Delete Site
  3. An alert box will appear asking you to confirm the deletion of the domain, once you select the Yes, I’m sure button the domain will be deleted.

Sub-Domain Targeting

You can specifically target subdomain and main-level domains when registering a domain to your OptinMonster account.

The following options are available when registering your domains on OptinMonster:

  • Top-Level Domain: e.g. google.com
  • Sub-Domain: e.g. sub.google.com
  • Wildcard Sub-Domain: e.g. *.google.com

Top-Level Domain

Setting a top-level domain will allow your campaign to load only on the main domain of your site. Your campaign will not load on any sub-domain of your site.

Registering a Top-Level Domain in OptinMonster.

Sub-Domain

Setting a sub-domain will allow your campaign to load only on that sub-domain of your site. Your campaign will not load on the top-level domain or any other sub-domain of your site.

Registering a Sub-Domain in OptinMonster.

Wildcard Sub-Domain

Setting a wildcard sub-domain will allow your campaign to load on any sub-domain of your site. Your campaign will not load on the top-level domain of your site.

Registering a Wildcard Sub-Domain in OptinMonster.

Warning:

Please note that in the Publish screen the wildcard sub-domain site will show a “not connected” notice. This is normal and can be safely disregarded as long as your campaign has been embedded on your site and is working normally.

FAQs

How can I allow my campaign to appear on every sub-domain and the top-level domain of my site?

You can configure your campaign to load everywhere on your site regardless of the sub-domain or the top-level domain by setting both a top-level domain and wildcard sub-domain in the Website field of the campaign builder.

Troubleshooting

My site won’t verify.

There are some specific conditions which will prevent a site from being verified. These do not immediately indicate that OptinMonster is not functioning on your site.

The site connection status should only be considered an informative tool and not a diagnostic.

The following conditions will prevent your site from being automatically verified by the campaign builder:

  • Condition: The OptinMonster embed code is not present on the homepage of your site.
You may have placed the embed code on other specific pages of the site, but automatic verification checks only the homepage of the site.
Solution: You can manually verify the site by adding ?om-verify-site=true to the end of the page URL where the embed code is added. For example, the URL may look like this: https://mysite.com/about-me?om-verify-site=true
  • Condition: Visiting the homepage of the site redirects you to another page of the same site.
For example, visiting https://mysite.com redirects you to a page like https://mysite.com/home
Solution: You can manually verify the site by adding ?om-verify-site=true to the end of the page URL you are redirected to. For example, the URL may look like this: https://mysite.com/home?om-verify-site=true
  • Condition: Visiting the homepage of the site redirects you to a different domain.
For example, visiting https://mysite.com redirects you to a page like https://anothersite.com
Solution: The campaign will need to be assigned to the domain that appears in the browser window before it can visually appear to site visitors. In the above example, you should register and assign the domain anothersite.com instead of mysite.com.
Exception: If you have a Shopify or BigCommerce site that uses both an admin domain (e.g. mysite.myshopify.com or mysite.bigcommerce.com) and a pretty domain (the domain visitors use to view your site) the admin domain will always show as Not Connected. This is not indicative of any problem and there is no solution required. You should continue to assign your campaigns to both the admin and pretty domain for them to function properly as outlined in our documentation.

If none of the conditions above apply to your site and you are unable to verify it, please reach out to our support team and we will be happy to assist!

Enable OptinMonster Early Access in your account and test new features before they are officially released! It’s like time travel, but it doesn’t require a DeLorean.

You’ll learn how to enable OptinMonster Early Access in this article.

Before You Start

Here are some things to know before you begin:

  • Early Access features are still being tested and improved by our team before they are officially released in the app. These features may not always work exactly as expected or may have bugs. We do not recommend using Early Access features with live campaigns.
  • You can report any issues with Early Access features to our support team.

Enable Early Access

You can enable OptinMonster Early Access in your account by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Account page.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and expand the Advanced Settings section.
  3. Toggle the Early Access option.
Enable Early Access features in OptinMonster.
  4. When you are finished, save the changes.
  5. Remember that Early Access can be turned off as needed, so if you’re not ready to use a feature in Early Access, uncheck the box, and Early Access will be revoked.

Disable Early Access

To disable Early Access features in your account, follow the section above. Toggle the Early Access option off and save the changes.

Note:

Please be advised that disabling Early Access will cause any Early Access features used in your campaigns to become inaccessible. We suggest keeping Early Access enabled or removing any Early Access features from your campaigns beforehand to avoid losing the ability to edit these campaigns. If you mistakenly disable Early Access and cannot edit your campaigns, you can always re-enable Early Access to regain access.

How To Be A Great Early Access Team Member!

The best part about being part of our Early Access team is that you get access to the newest features and solutions far beyond the rest of our customers and way before your competitors. In exchange, we expect you to share what you love about new features and to help us discover when things aren’t quite working as you’d like.

Here are a few tips on how to share your thoughts when testing Early Access features.

  1. We intentionally provide little documentation during the Early Access phase of development. We need to know if the product is intuitive and easy to use. If you can’t figure out how to accomplish what you’re trying to do without reading a doc, we probably haven’t made it simple enough. If and when that happens, let us know!
  2. When you do reach out to share your experience, here’s a simple way to structure your feedback (using the example of cooking eggs):
    1. What were you trying to do? (I was trying to make eggs for breakfast)
    2. What were you expecting to happen? (I was hoping to find fresh eggs in the carton in the fridge I could cook)
    3. What happened instead? (I opened the refrigerator, and the egg cartons had onions in them instead of eggs)
    4. What do you suggest as a solution? (Take out the onions and put eggs in the cartons)
  3. Screenshots are always helpful. Videos, with your voice describing the steps to reproduce, are even more useful. Loom.com has a free plan that allows up to five minutes per video and is super easy to record.

Can I reset the branding options?

Yes, you can use the Reset Branding button at the bottom of the Branding page to revert all styling to the default settings.

Troubleshooting

Can I get more Sub-Accounts?

If you are currently on a Pro plan, you’ll need to upgrade to a Growth plan to increase your Sub-Account limit.

If you are already subscribed to a Growth plan, please contact our support team who can assist with increasing your Sub-Account limit.

I am a sub-account user. Why can’t I see a campaign, integration, or site?

There are many reasons why you may not be seeing what you expect when logged in as a Sub-Account User, including:

  • The permissions or user-role assigned to your account does not allow you to perform the action you’re attempting.
  • The account owner has revoked your access to their account.
  • The account owner has allowed their subscription and account to expire.

Please reach out to the account owner first about any issues you’re experiencing with your Sub-Account.

What user-roles are available for Sub-Accounts?

OptinMonster offers the following Sub-Account user-roles:

  • Viewer
  • Author
  • Manager
  • Admin

Learn more about which user-role you should assign in this guide.
